Cortland’s C16™ Super Braid in Blue is an advanced gel-spun fiber, hollow-core casting and trolling line designed for saltwater fishing where strength, smooth handling, and clean rigging matter. Braided in our Cortland, New York, manufacturing facility from 16 gel-spun fibers, C16™ features a tight, round weave and uniform pick count, or wraps per inch, for an exceptionally smooth surface that packs tightly on the spool with no flattening or digging in. Its fine diameter minimizes line drag when trolling or fighting fish, and the 16-carrier construction delivers excellent resistance to nicks and abrasions during prolonged fights with big fish.

C16™ delivers extreme sensitivity and instant hooksets because the gel-spun fibers have virtually no stretch. It also features Cortland’s proprietary FiberTech® super braid protection, a unique treatment, not a coating, that penetrates the weave and bonds with the individual gel-spun fibers to stiffen and improve the handling characteristics of the line. ColorLast provides permanent blue color, while FiberTech® reduces friction in the guides and increases the line’s durability. C16™ is braided with Cortland’s spliceable hollow-core construction for fast, reliable splicing of end loops for wind-on leaders or direct splices for monofilament and fluorocarbon top shots.

Easily the best braid for musky

I've been a Master Braid fan for years. The C16 is even better, stronger, nicer, better lay, more supple. The C16 is a tad expensive but worth every penny. 80# in either line is totally superior to any other line from anyone else. Not to bad mouth the Master Braid but the C16 is a whole new experience. The C16 is incredible. As for others? In the past 30years I've used Power Pro Slick8, old Tuff salt & pepper, Sufix 832, Tuff Domin8, Tuff 4orce, original Power Pro, Hi Seas Grand Slam, Daiwa J8, Tuff Classic, and Momoi Diamond Braid. The Diamond Braid is the best of those other brands, but the Master Braid is even better, and C16 is easily the world champion.

This is the second spool of C16 I have used, 100 & 60lb. By far the best hollow braid I have fished, and I have used may. It's consistent, void of any flaws and fishes amazing.

The best!

Cortland C16 is by far the best backing for fly fishing. The durability and abrasion resistance make it first choice for saltwater, jungle and volcanic rivers. Another unique quality is that it makes perfect blind splices and internal loops.
Yes it I spendy but so are $1000 rods and $100 flylines!
